CCI imposes huge penalty on top real estate developer

In a recent complaint filed against M/s DLF Limited (DLF) alleging abuse of dominant position relating to a residential project “The Belaire” at Gurgaon by imposing arbitary, unfair and unreasonable conditions on the apartment allottees, the Competition Commission of India ruled out any new penalty in lieu of the penalty of Rs. 630 crores imposed on DLF in a similar case in August 2011.

The earlier complaint was filed by Belaire Owner’s Association.

The Commission, however, said that the order of “cease and desist” passed in that earlier complaint will be applicable to this present case.
